Taught music in public schools for 30 years- general music - all grade levels; elementary vocal; choral director, all grade levels; elementary, middle and high school instrumental;band director, all levels. Also taught summer courses and adjunct courses in colleges and universities. Member of MENC, NJMEA, CJMEA, ACDA OAKE, ASTA/NOA. Served as President of CJMEA (Central Jersey Music Educators Association) tow terms; presently President-Elect of NJ Retired Music Educators. Retired from public school teaching in 2005 but remain active in MENC,NJMEA, OAKE and PA-ACDA. Moved back to PA after retiring and stated a children's choir.
I am founder and artistic director of the Endless Mountains Children's Choir located in Susquehanna County in northeastern PA about 30 miles north of Scranton, PA. While director of my NJ Children's Chamber Choir in NJ, we toured Austria and performed with the Vienna Boys Choir and I conducted the Vienna Boys Choir in concert with my choir; we performed at the International Choir Festival in Salzburg, St. Stephens Cathedral, the church in which Maria von Trapp married, the Schoennbern Palace, Graz Festival, Kennedy Center, the White House and many music competition/festivals in which my choirs consistantly won 1st place with a superior rating. My choirs were children choirs (ssa voicing)and middles school choirs (sab and satb voicing)
The Endless Mountins Children's Choir will begin its 3rd year this fall - we are a community choir totally funded by community donations and fund raising events. We have performed at all types of community functions and events including holiday performances at the PA capital in Harrisburg for the past 2 years and a night performance at the National Christmas Tree in Washington D.C. last December. We will perform a holiday concert at the PA capital again this December and also an evening performance at the National Christmas Tree again this December.
I am also active in my church- I sing/play the 4:00PM Mass every Saturday- I was the organist and choir director at this church when i was 14 years old - now I am back home volunteering my time and talents 50 years later!! I do substitute organist playing at many of the local churches - I often do the the Sunday service at local the First United Methodist Church. I also give private music lessons in my home. I do some mentoring and student teaching observations for Marywood University in Scranton - I graduated from Marywood with my B. M and M. A. degrees. I did my Ph.D in Music Education abroad through the University of Siena - studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Universitat in Vienna, Prague Conservatory, University of Siena, University of Munich; it took me 4 years as I did it during the summers-carried 18 credits each summer while studying at a different school.
