Keene Youth Chorus is Expanding

Location: New Hampshire, USA
Choir type: Children's and Youth Choirs
March 20, 2016

Dear Friends,

I am thrilled to announce that the Grand Monadnock Youth Choirs will be expanding again this fall! Currently, we offer 4 choirs in Peterborough under the direction of Maria Belva, and 1 in Keene under my leadership. We will be expanding in Keene! The second choir, which will temporarily be named KYC*2 until the singers themselves name the ensemble, will also be under my directorship.

We are pleased to announce our choral expansion in Keene! In its first year, the Keene Youth Chorus is serving children in grades 2 through 5, with 40 singers coming from 9 different towns in VT and NH. Because we have experienced so much interest from the community, we have decided to offer an additional section of KYC starting in the fall of 2016 for children in grades 5 through 8 (temporarily named KYC*2). The current Keene Youth Chorus will still be offered in the fall to children in grades 2 through 4.

This choral opportunity offers a chance for young singers to build self-confidence, leadership, and independence, strengthen musical literacy, and illuminate our communities as ambassadors in our region. The singers will experience lively weekly rehearsals including both movement and singing, and will culminate in performance. Our choir will enrich the choral and musical education the children receive in school and at home.

Auditions for the Keene Youth Chorus and KYC*2 will be held in June, and will be open to all children entering grades 2 through 8 in the fall of 2016.

Please email or call for more information, and feel free to spread the word!
Best,
Esther Rhoades
