After Weelkes

Our choir (20 voices) just presented Weelkes' Hosanna to the Song of David. What would be another anthem from this period we could look at next? We sing a wide range of rep. but have a noticeable gap in when it comes to Early English music. Thanks.

I would go with “Hosanna to the Son of David” by Gibbons and “Sing Joyfully” by Byrd!  For some great suggestions and wonderful editions, you might look into the “Oxford Book of Tudor Anthems” (1978).

Hope that helps!
