Connecticut Master Chorale presents "Duke Ellington's Sacred Concert"

Location: Connecticut, USA
Choir type: Community Choirs
April 3, 2016 - 3pm. First Congregational Church, 164 Deer Hill Ave., Danbury, CT
Featuring "Duke Ellington's Sacred Concert" plus "American Rhapsody" by Z. Randall Stroope.
From 1966 to 1974, Duke Ellington and his Big Band Orchestra toured the United States and Europe to great acclaim with his remarkable Three Sacred Concerts. This arrangement draws together the best pieces from all three concerts, recreating what Ellington called "the most important thing I have ever done".
Also on the program is "American Rhapsody" by Z. Randall Stroope. This creative song cycle to celebrate our American heartland with distinctive music is a stimulating medley underscoring the significant contribution America has made to music using Aaron Copland's 'The Promise of Living' as the flagship theme.

We’ll be accompanied by the Connecticut Master Chorale Brass and Jazz Bands and joined by mezzo-soprano Jacqueline Gaudet.
Tickets are $25 ($20 in advance). Tickets are available from any singing member or by calling 203-743-0473.
Tina Johns Heidrich, Conductor
