2nd International Conducting Masterclass with Colin Metters & Atlantic Coast Orchestra

Esposende, Portugal_ 24 - 29 May 2016

The masterclass will be held in the beautiful city of Esposende (Portugal). All participants will have full board (3 meals+hotel /day) and enjoy both the course’s musical intensity and from the beautiful setting of the city. FINAL CONCERT!!! The masterclass, designed for those with some conducting experience with choir or orchestra provides a rare opportunity to work with Colin Metters, Professor Emeritus of Conducting at the Royal Academy of Music in London and one of the world’s foremost conducting pedagogues.

Participants will work with two professional pianists and with the Atlantic Coast Orchestra. The daily curriculum covers: in depth score study; individual video discussion; conducting technique; rehearsal skills; the ability to convey musical intention through gesture and influence all aspects of performance. Through his unique and personal approach to teaching and mentoring, Colin Metters generates an atmosphere that combines intensity of study with a mutually supportive and creative environment.

At the end, of the masterclass selected conductors will conduct the final concert with the Atlantic Coast Orchestra.

Passive participants will also have a dedicated piano class with assistant conductor Luis Clemente and will have the opportunity, during the week, to conduct with piano in a class with maestro Colin Metters
