WHERE DO YOU GO FROM HERE? Student Conducting Master Class with Michael Zaugg
Saturday, May 21, 2016
Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA
The Student Chapter of Choral Canada invites you to apply to the Student Conducting Master Class with Michael Zaugg and the National Youth Choir of Canada during 2016 Podium Conference & Festival in Edmonton, AB!
Once the choir knows the music, how do you engage — gesturally, musically, spiritually —with the ensemble to go one step further? What does the choir need & want from you in performance? Michael Zaugg will lead a conducting master class for full-time students that will focus on effective communication with the ensemble in rehearsal and performance, in particular transferring what you hear in what you say and show.
1.) Applicants must be full-time students enrolled in a post-secondary institution (i.e. university, college or conservatory) in Canada or the United States.
2.) Applicants must hold an active student membership with Choral Canada. For membership information, please click here.
1.) Begin your application by completing the Master Class Contact Form.
2.) Submit the following materials in a single email to firstname.lastname@example.org:
· Résumé outlining all relevant choral conducting education and experience (in PDF format)
· List of the repertoire conducted over the past 2-3 years (in PDF format)
· One letter of reference from a conductor who know the candidate’s work well (in PDF format).
3.) Video footage showing 10-15 minutes of the candidate in rehearsal. The conductor should be filmed from the front so that his/her eyes, face, hands, gestures, and posture are all clearly seen and his/her voice is clearly heard. Rehearsal videos need to be uploaded to YouTube as “unlisted” videos. (Note: videos classified as “private” will not be accepted). Link to application video must be included in the Master Class Contact Form.
