Please Help Me Name My New Choir!

I am trying to implement an intermediate choir for my school, as the whole beginner to advanced thing isn't working too well.   My 'advanced' group will be smaller and called ChamberChorus.   The beginning groups will be Men's Ensemble and Concert Choir.  I can't do anything too crazy, but I think something like chorale is terribly boring.   Thoughts, anyone?  Pretty please?

Many readers have probably seen Gary Larson's Far Side cartoon by this title.  Half a dozen robed gunmen are standing in choir formation, and one turns to another and sneers, "Hey you--I don't like your tone!"

At my last public high school teaching job, I announced that nominations for a name for the choirs would be taken from the singers, and nominations from myself, on a particular day, and I led them through a discussion of what names of choirs convey about what the choirs do--peer, parent, and community impressions. On nomination day, the nominators would explain the significance of the name they are nominating (including me of my own) and the possible impressions they might present, and questions/discussions ensued. After all the nominations were in, an election was held (I did not vote). The most experienced mixed choir chose Bel Canto Chorale. The women's group chose Choralettes, and the men's group chose Choraliers. Just a suggestion, Andy. Good luck.

For the function it serves as you described it, Garrett's suggestion of "Intermezzo" hits the nail on the head pretty well.  And it sounds so much classier and more musical than "Almost Chamber Choir."  ;  )

I like all ofGarret's suggestions above, particularly Crescendo; Overture would also work, maybe?

Hello Andy,

I was editing some music last night and when using the word 'Interlude' recalled your quest for a name for the 'Intermediate' choir. So, my suggestion:
Interlude. "A short period when a situation or activity is different from what comes before and after (Cambridge Dictionary) and "an interval in a play, event or occasion during which music is played (Collins Dictionary)"

Great way to get a name. Good luck!

Donald
