End of Convention MMEA Report 2011
Report to MMEA
October 22, 2011
Axel Theimer presented six sessions to full and packed rooms. His mind stretching methods were received with some confusion, experimenting and assessing, just as he teaches us to go out and encourage our singers to do: experiment, be engaged, evaluate and discover co-ordinations that work. We avoid “trying”, or “working” at it—as this may imply using extra, unnecessary muscles in the coordination.
We very much appreciate JW Pepper and Linda Schmidt getting us choral music for our reading session. Sean Ambrose, President of our NW NafME directed the reading session as well as sent in his requests for titles. Linda does an excellent job of keeping track of titles recently used, and titles she would recommend for us.
MCDA is healthy. The National organization raised the annual membership dues to $95.00. The additional $10.00 was added to our joint membership deal to members who are also members of MBA, MSTA, and MGMTA.
We look forward to next year, celebrating our 75th convention that will include the US Army Choir for the host night concert and also presenting sessions for our membership.
We would like to improve communication between the All-State host and our MCDA officers as All-State directors are selected.
