Category: Chamber Choirs and Vocal Ensembles
Telford, Shropshire, England

The Abbey Chorale, a small 4-part chamber choir, was formed in 1994 from local talent with the love for music and singing from around the Telford area in Shropshire. We took our name from our rehearsal venue of 17 years, Buildwas Abbey.
The Choir has a membership of around 15 experienced singers and has given numerous concerts over the years throughout Shropshire, Staffordshire and Lancashire, and is also well known for singing at weddings (church and civil ceremonies) and private parties. Please contact us if you would like us to sing at YOUR event.
The Abbey Chorale started competitive singing in 1996. Since then it has won many competitions including BBC Radio Shropshire’s Choir of the Year (twice) and ‘runner up’ in the regional heat of Sainsbury’s Choir of the Year in 1997, as well as taking part in competitions at Biddulph, Newcastle under Lyme, Cheltenham, Worcester, Dudley, Minsterley and Lichfield.
Our repertoire is varied with music from 15th century madrigals and church music to contemporary and popular music from the shows.
We hold rehearsals every Thursday 8.00 - 10.00 p.m. at The Rock Methodist Church, The Rock, Telford, Shropshire and look forward to welcoming new members in each section (SATB).
