The Unity Choir will present Requiem by Charles Gounod on Sunday afternoon, March 20 at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church 111 Ryerson Avenue, Newton NJ.   Henry Repp will direct as well as accompany on the three-manual pipe organ.  Merynda Adams will enhance the beauty of the music with her harp.  Returning soloists will include Cassanda Lambros, soprano and violinist; Kathleen Meredith, alto; Tom Carle, tenor; and David Young, bass.  Gounod wrote the Requiem in memory of his grandson, Maurice.  He completed it in 1893 but did not live to hear its premiere during Holy Week in 1894.  Also included in the concert will be Greater Love Hath No Man by John Ireland, O Saviour of the World by Harold Moore, Light of the World by Elgar, Gounod's O Divine Redeemer, Unto Thee, O Lord by Henrich, and The Way to Jerusalem by Friedell.  A trio for violin, harp, and organ will be Invocation by Ganne.  Bass Phillip Lid will sing Before the Cross by Frank La forge.  There will be a free-will offering and all are welcome.  The church is handicapped accessible and has ample parking.  A reception will follow the concert.
